Tallest Trees Contest

Maybe you have never looked up, way up at the amazing trees in Cornwall. Well now is the time. This contest is for you or the whole family to participate in together! And if you think you know your local trees, now is the time to test that out. Let’s explore, discover and appreciate this amazingly beautiful natural resource in Cornwall. There are prizes to be won and bragging rights to earn!

For this contest, your challenge is to find, identify, measure, photograph, and report on our entry form the tallest tree that you find. You can find the form here: Tallest Trees in Cornwall Contest

How do you identify which type of native tree it is? We are looking for the tallest pines, cedars, spruces, maples, birch, oak, tamarack, aspen, ash, and or butternut. Might you find another native, send in your entry.

You also need to provide the tree’s general location (e.g. the corner of Brown St. and Red Avenue, or half way along the north side of Purple Street between Green and Pink Streets). Make sure your tall tree is within the boundaries of the City of Cornwall 

And how do you measure your chosen tree? The Tallest Trees in Cornwall Contest entry form (link above) includes some easy instructions on how to measure the height of a tree using only a stick. 

Entries are limited to one per individual or family group. This is a correction to the Tallest Trees Contest articles published in the media.

How long do you have to find that tree? The contest lasts for the months of July and August. Winners will be determined and announced in September. Prizes will be awarded as per the tree type submitted.

The aim of the contest is to grow awareness and appreciation of the trees that beautify our city. Get out there and enjoy the search.
