New Year’s Day Canada 150 Celebrations Lamoureux Park

Sunday, January 1, 2:30 on Lamoureux Park Join us for a New Year’s Day community celebration in Lamoureux Park as we kick off Cornwall’s year-long Canada 150 festivities! The fun will get underway at 2:30 pm and there will be a full slate of free activities including snowshoeing, tobogganing, a snowman competition and more. There will also be sleigh rides through the park from 4 pm to 8 pm! See the full schedule of events below!

New Year’s Day Celebration schedule of events

Kick Off (starting at 2:30 pm near children’s play area in Lamoureux Park)
– Opening ceremonies
– Official launch of 2017 Sesquicentennial celebrations with dignitaries
– Singing of O Canada

Activities (starting at 2:30 pm unless otherwise noted)
– Snowshoeing
– Tobogganing
– Old time snowman competition
– Community tree decorating
– Sleigh rides through Lamoureux Park (from 4 pm to 8 pm)

– Toboggan pull race competition (various ages)
– Family Big Pull competition
– Snowball toss 

– Community tree lights
– First Nations crafts
– Face painting
– Snowshoes
– Information booth

Food (At concession stand near splashpad, prices to be posted)
– Hot dogs and marshmallows
– MockTails pastry
– Crepes
– Hot and cold drinks
– Maple toffy at Cabane a sucre
