Commuter Challenge – Register, Participate and Win!

June 1- 7 City of Cornwall and area Everyone is encouraged to participate in the National Commuter Challenge which is taking place locally. The City of Cornwall’s results will be compared to cities of similar population.  It is easy and it should be fun. It also should be emphasized that commuting may be defined as walking for your lunch date, or to the park with the kids after supper, or car pooling, or taking your bicycle out for a spin. The Active Transportation Action Group is partnering with the City of Cornwall. Follow this link for complete information and registration information. Register  this weekend and start on Sunday. While you are out and about, possibly on the weekend, check out the ‘car free’ destinations below. While on your bicycle or roller blades or on foot, discover the ‘world of possibilities’ that Cornwall area has to offer. destinations

There was a mention of being able to win if one participates. The prizes are being offered after all ‘commuting’ has been reported. Cyclists have a chance to win one of two bicycles offered by TOTAL CYCLERY and BICYCLE WORLD, these are being co-sponsored by the City of Cornwall. Wednesday, June 4, everyone wins as Cornwall Transit is offering free rides all day on the regular city buses! This coincides with Clean Air Day. Commuters that take the bus during this special week will be eligible to win gift packages to celebrate participating.

Sunday, June 8th, MOCKTAILS in Lamoureux Park is offering a free drink each to the first 50 customers that report to have done the Commuter Challenge. This generosity will take place all day from 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. So head on down to the MOCKTAILS patio and enjoy the view while satisfying your thirst.

Wait there is more, a PHOTO CONTEST for all those participants who send in a photo of themselves. Put on your smile and do a selfie or have someone take your photo while commuting using active transportation or car pooling or doing a teleconference. Tweet the photo at: CornwallCommute. City of Cornwall swag is up for grabs.
