Youth with Vision

Saturday, June 1, 1-3 p.m.,  Youth with Vision, Open House,  Cornwall Public Library Over the past few months two groups of young people from ages 8-15 have been discovering the world of design and  creating their own visions of what that could be. They are presenting their work at the Cornwall Public Library on June 1 between 1 and 3, and their creations will be on display in the library display windows and upstairs  in the children’s library for the month of June.

These young people are part of ‘Design for Living’, an after school programme run by local arts educator, Penny Bateman with a grant from the Ontario Arts Council and generous support from the Cornwall Community Museum and the Cornwall Public Library.

If you come to the Saturday event which is open to all, you will see these young designers’ vision for what makes a good community space in Cornwall. Youth are often the recipients of what is and is not planned but they are seldom asked their opinion. Here is an opportunity to find out what they are thinking. And you will be invited to participate as they have made their vision into a community board game. You can also try your hand at simple video game on the same theme.

Need a new house? In a few years one of these young people just might be your choice of designer as their innovative house and building models show they are ready to explore new ideas and think green. Please support our young innovative generation by attending their ‘Open House”.
